Vauxhall celebrates the tenth season of its Fashion Scout with the first ever car-walk. Made out of three new Corsas and hovering 1.5 meters above the ground, the unique installation featured a three hour show as part of London`s Fashion Week. The models, who normally floated on the polished stages in front of Anna Wintour and Co., spent a week tackling the high-rise podium before showing off the carefully choreographed moment.
The Vauxhall Fashion Scout is a common presence at London Fashion Week and its main purpose is to give lesser known designers the opportunity to have their own catwalk show, presentation or exhibition during Fashion Week.
General Motor's Opel / Vauxhall division is preparing its own proposal in the small crossover segment to take on the likes of the Nissan Juke as well as the forthcoming Fiesta Fiesta-based CUV, and here are some spy shots of what will soon slot into Opel's crossover lineup below the Antara.
Under all the camo is GM's new compact crossover, and it's expected to ride on an modified version of the upcoming Sonic/Spark's Gamma II platform, which will also be used on the next Corsa. Anyone want to photoshop a 4-door Corsa high rider? If not, just imagine it.
Power should come from Opel's current lineup of 1.4-liter and possibly 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline units as well as a choice of turbo diesel engines, while both front- or all-wheel drive configurations will likely be available when the Corsa crossover debuts.
To mark the launch of the subtly refreshed Corsa VXR, Vauxhall is introducing a new limited edition version of its hot hatch with an additional kit and a special blue paintjob as standard.
In detail, the new Corsa VXR Blue Edition is finished in an Arden Blue metallic paint and comes fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels, dark-tinted glass, bespoke interior air vents and Recaro seats, which equate to a £445 saving compared with the cost of speccing a ‘standard’ VXR with this kit.
'Tis the season for shopping at Vauxhall as GM's British subsidiary has announced a significant 20 per cent discount on most of its new models, just days before the VAT increases in the country by a hefty 2.5 per cent in early January. The automaker's offer is called "Vauxhall Countdown" and it is available on new cars purchased between December 27, 2010 Read more »
Enough with the rumors and the teasing from Opel's European site configurators; the 2011/2012 Corsa facelift has finally been officially revealed. The subtle restyling comes four years after the presentation of the fourth generation model less than 12 months after Opel tweaked the supermini's engine range and chassis.
The updated Corsa dons a sharper face with chiseled headlamps, a new upper grille and a restyled front bumper featuring a wider and taller lower grille, plus different foglamp housings. The new look is complemented with six new alloy wheel designs and a larger, redesigned Opel Blitz on the tailgate.
These changes bring the car more in line with Opel's latest offerings such as the Meriva and Astra, though some may also find a few similarities with the Mazda2 [up front]. And as you can see in the picture right above, Opel seems to poke some fun at its newly found smiley face syndrome...
A couple of weeks, we told you about a series of photos showing the 2011/2012 Opel Corsa facelift. To recap, according to numerous tipsters including Carscoop reader Javier, the pictures were found momentarily on Opel's German site, but were removed shortly after some users started uploading the images on the firm's Facebook page. Unfortunately, we weren't able to verify the claim then.
But Javier kept on looking and this time, he was able to tip us off in a timely manner about the Corsa facelift making its appearance on Opel's Belgian website. And yes, we can confirm their authenticity. The pictures of the standard 3-door and 5-door Corsa as well as of the OPC hot hatch that you see in our gallery after the jump were downloaded by us.
We were tipped off this morning by an attentive reader from Chile about images of the facelifted Opel Corsa (Vauxhall in the UK) that were posted by a user on Opel's dedicated Facebook page. The back story is that the refreshed Corsa was found momentarily on the official configurator on Opel's German site, but was abruptly removed shortly after the posting. We checked on the webpage but didn't find anything. Read more »
Coincidently, Peugeot isn't the only carmaker launching a 'Black & White' edition of one of its models, so is Vauxhall that just announced a new special version of its Corsa supermini.
In Vauxhall's case, the new Corsa Black & White Limited Edition model combines a glacier white bodywork with black 17-inch twin spoke alloy wheels and detailing, topped off with a black sapphire roof.
Following in the footsteps of sister company Opel that recently launched a special edition version of the Corsa dedicated to the German national football team, Vauxhall has announced the release of a set of England flag decals for the three-door Corsa.
The kit, which includes the same style decals that flow from the Corsa's headlamps right the way along its sides with a pair of matching mirror caps as the German-market model, is available from Vauxhall retailers for £149 fully fitted and including VAT.
To celebrate the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa that will kick off in Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium on June 11th, Opel has released a limited edition version of its Corsa supermini dedicated to the German national soccer team. For the record the Germans were drawn into Group D where they will play their three first round matches against Australia, Serbia and Ghana.
But back to the Corsa, the German-market "Football Championship Edition" features the traditional colors of the country's soccer team combining a white paint job with stripes that run from the hood to the rear quarter window and also cover the exterior mirrors, and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black.
Here are some spy shots of what is believed to be the Opel Corsa OPC Nürburgring Edition special.
Based on the standard OPC, this should basically be the Corsa version of the Astra-based 2008 Nürburgring Edition model. That means it'll most likely come with the standard Corsa OPC's 192-horsepower (141 kW) / 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) turbocharged 1.6 liter mill and extra add-ons.
Other baubles to expect are upgraded Brembo brakes, Recaro leather seating, carbon-look decor for the interior, unique lightweight wheels, and maybe even a tuned suspension.
Chevrolet isn't the only brand in the GM Group playing around with vivid colors and special editions that hark back to models of the 60s and 70s. So is the firm's European division Opel that has released a new exclusive edition of the Corsa supermini called 'Color Race' inspired from the late 1960s - early 1970s Rallye Kadett B Sprint.
However, unlike the sporty Kadett that combined exclusive styling cues with performance enhancements, the Corsa Color Race's upgrades are limited to cosmetic upgrades.
The three-door Color Race is available with a choice of three exterior finishes - Sunny Melon Yellow color, Casablanca White and Magma Red- and comes with a standard black hood as well as side and tailgate appliqués with a checkered flag motif, black painted roof and black 17-inch alloy wheels.
The special edition model's interior features matching color highlights such as special seat stitching and vent bezels, a Panorama sunroof and a leather-clad steering wheel.
The Corsa Color Race is offered with the same range of engines as the other 2010 Corsa models including the new 1.4-liter gasoline unit with 87HP or 100HP and the 130HP 1.7-liter CDTI turbo diesel that returns a combined fuel consumption of just 4.5-liter per 100 km or 52.3 mpg US.
Pricing in Germany starts from €15,560 or at today's exchange rates, approximately US$22,500.

GM's Opel and Vauxhall divisions have revealed the new fuel-efficient and green Corsa ecoFLEX that will go on sale across Europe in January 2010. Available in both three- and five-door versions, the new Corsa ecoFLEX is powered by a 1.3-liter CDTi diesel engine with a variable geometry turbo for a total output of 95HP, or 28 per cent more power than the existing 75HP Corsa ecoFLEX.
In spite of the power increase, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are slashed by some 10 percent over the outgoing model at 3.7 lt/100 km (63.3 mpg US or 76.3 mpg UK) and 98 g/km of CO2 for the three-door or 99g/km for the five door model respectively.
To help achieve these figures, Opel tweaked the Corsa's aerodynamics by lowering the car by 20mm and optimizing the air flows via the air intakes. Furthermore, the new 175/70 tires that are roll-resistance-optimized and fitted to lighter, 14-inch steel wheels, feature newly designed and more efficient wheel caps.
The new 95HP model comes equipped with a five-speed manual transmission featuring a longer gear ratio. According to Opel, it has a top speed of 177 km/h (110mph) and needs 12.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62mph) from a standstill.
Proving once again that for the most part, teaser sketches and concept studies have little if anything in common with the actual production model (cars like the Peugeot RCZ are the exception to the rule), General Motors revealed the first official photos of the 2010 Chevy Agile small car. Despite the promising sketches, the production version of the Agile looks like an Opel Corsa that suffered multiple plastic surgery procedures to make it look like a small Chevy crossover.
Luckily for us, the new Agile that was conceived in Brazil using GM's Viva platform is not the next North American or European market Chevy Aveo as the crossoverish hatch was developed for South American markets.
The Agile will be built at General Motors' Rosario plant in Argentina with series production set to begin this fall.
Chevrolet's official press release did not mention anything on the available powertrain options, but South American buyers can expect a range of four-cylinder engines.
These are the first official sketches of the all-new Chevrolet Agile, a Ford Fiesta-sized hatchback that was developed and designed entirely by GM's South American operations. Judging by the drawings, the Agile appears to be the road-going, five-door hatchback version of the Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe concept study that was revealed at last year's Sao Paulo International Auto Show in Brazil.
During the presentation of the GPiX, Jaime Ardila, President of General Motors Brazil and Mercosur, had revealed that the concept study could spawn a series of small cars for the South American markets.
Production of the Agile is scheduled to begin this fall at the company's Rosario plant in Argentina with sales in South America pegged to start before the end of the year. GM said that the Agile is the first vehicle to make use of its new "Viva" platform that was originally developed for Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
While the American automaker did not release any technical specifications on the Agile, buyers should expect a wide range of 4-cylinder engines.
And yes, the thought that the Agile may form the base for Chevrolet's U.S. market small hatchback that will be built in Michigan in 2011, did cross our mind (the smaller Spark is also a possible candidate). However, GM has not made any announcements on the matter.
